MUSEUM DISPLAY PROJECT

USS JAMES K. POLK GOING ON PUBLIC DISPLAY. DING-DING DING-DING. JAMES K. POLK ARRIVING. Last Christmas we installed the Ship Control Panel. We also displayed the EABs, sound powered phones & a few other items under our Christmas Tree. We have received several items from the decommissioned submarine. Got the crate with the Ballast Control Panel here & one more crate is in bound. With the support of the State of Georgia, $60,000 Community Assistance Grant, pieces & parts from the James K. Polk will go on display at the St. Marys Submarine Museum. Items requested are the Ship Control Panel, Ballast Control Panel, diesel gage board, a water tight door, a torpedo tube breech door, galley items (received), signal ejector, MK-1 CAMS atmosphere analyzer panel (received), EABs & manifold (received), helm chairs & steering controls (received), CO's stateroom comms. panel (received), sound powered head sets (received), ships indicator panel (received) and a few more items. Restoration of these items is expected to be completed some time in 2000, pending condition upon arrival. Items placed on loan to museums such as our selves are declassified & demilitarized. Museum will be interested in collecting 8x10 & 8.5x11 photos of the boat & crew throughout her history. Unclassified photos of the items we are receiving are desired to help with the restoration. Command brochures, change of command, welcome aboard, commissioning, decommissioning are desired. As items arrival date and specific items are finalized I'll update this section as required.
