Beginning of a generic nuclear submarine helm station.  (This is where two high school graduates, 18-19 years old, steer the submarine though the ocean).  Still looking to collect gages & other instruments that would normally be in front of the helmsmen.  This station is part of the Periscope Station.
 

Type 8 submarine periscope, most modern model on public display.  The top of the scope goes out of the roof for a great view of the local area. (Scope photos next page)  Viewers may use our chair, on wheels, or bring their own chair, on wheels, to look out of the scope.
